About John

John Johnson II is a third generation Floridian who gets most of his inspiration from the people, places, and things around him. A life long lover of both art and nature, it seemed only inevitable that John would end up combining the two to make wonderful wildlife art. John initially began painting during his time at North Fort Myers High School. Having no experience as with painting John quickly caught on and developed his love for acrylics. As his talent and eye for creativity grew, John would branch out into more mediums like digital art and eventually watercolor where he began to develop the style and method that he uses today.

In John’s free time he loves to travel and paint, he is also an avid bowler spending a few nights a week at various bowling leagues. Some of John’s favorite places to travel to are zoo’s and aquariums. Being an artist who primarily focuses on wildlife art as well as a general nature lover, John finds ample inspiration from spending time viewing the various animals. Occasionally John will sketch and paint the animals on location. He uses this time to hone his skills with drawing from direct observation as opposed to using image reference.
